Intel Launches Unified Developer Zone
As part of Intel’s software-first strategy for developers, where open approaches, choice and trust are the foundation, a unified Developer Zone was introduced at Intel Innovation.
The new Developer Zone experience eases access to technical resources, code samples, reference designs, tools and more across AI, cloud, 5G/edge, client and gaming. It also provides access to a consolidated Intel® Developer Catalog of key software offerings, including Intel® oneAPI and OpenVINO™ toolkits along with other use cases focused on software and containers optimized across a variety of industries.
The Intel® DevCloud was enhanced with several improvements to ease and simplify development, including adding container support for the edge. The Intel DevCloud is available to develop and test code using Intel® Distribution of OpenVINO™ toolkit and other software tools across a full complement of Intel CPUs, integrated GPUs, discrete GPUs, VPUs and FPGAs.
Intel Unveils oneAPI 2022, Boosts Ecosystem with New Centers of Excellence
is an open, unified and cross-architecture programming model for CPUs and accelerator architectures (GPUs, FPGAs and others). Based on standards, the programming model simplifies software development and delivers uncompromised performance for accelerated compute without proprietary lock-in, while enabling the integration of legacy code. With oneAPI, developers can choose the best architecture for the specific problem they are trying to solve without needing to rewrite software for the next architecture and platform.
Intel oneAPI 2022 toolkits will be released this quarter with more than 900 new features since oneAPI 2021 released in December 2020. The upcoming release adds cross-architecture development capabilities for CPUs and GPUs through the first unified C++/SYCL/Fortran compiler and Data Parallel Python. It expands Advisor accelerator performance modeling, includes VTune Flame Graph to visualize performance hot spots and improves productivity through extended Microsoft Visual Studio Code integration and Microsoft WSL 2 support.
Intel is investing in research, technologies, and education through 11 new Intel® oneAPI Centers of Excellence (CoEs) focused on HPC, AI and graphics. These CoEs will deliver strategic code ports, additional hardware support, new technologies and services, and curriculum to increase oneAPI ecosystem adoption. These include: Oak Ridge National Laboratory, University of California Berkeley, University of Durham and University of Tennessee, and the expansion of Intel Graphics Visualization Institutes of Xellence as oneAPI Centers of Excellence.
